Basic Techniques 1

basic-1Training of the principles of the 4th series: The performing this movement, uke learns to understand its effects. This type of work aims at putting the articulations of uke (hand, elbow, shoulder) into tension, hence providing appropriate levers for control and redirection.

Basic Techniques 2

basic-2This training aims at controlling the partner without grab. Daito-ryu avoids grabbing the partner during the techniques in order to avoid creating signals that can be picked up by the opponent and associated tensions resulting from a hold, which render the techniques more difficult to execute and imbalance impossible to achieve. This type of control without grabs is therefore a very important part of practice.

basic-3The katageiko is the foundation of the practice of Daito-ryu (118 basic techniques). Mastering these basic techniques leads to the development of applications. To learn more about Katageiko, click here.
